Short Description

The  SNSF-funded project A world of possibilities. Modal pathways over an extra-long period of time: the diachrony of modality in the Latin language (WoPoss) aims at reconstructing the evolution of modal meanings and constructions from the prehistory of the Latin language up to the 7th century CE. The main milestone of the project is a linguistically annotated, diachronic corpus in which a selection of modal markers has received a fine-grained semantic annotation, according to the WoPoss guidelines for the annotation of modality (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.3560950).
