Short Description
Insight into the historical background of present-day phenomena such as globalisation, migration and social heterogeneity is of great importance for learning history, which should contribute to the orientation of today's learners. Global history provides a suitable academic approach. This is being discussed in history didactics, but little empirical research has been conducted so far. This study addresses that gap. It is based on history lessons at upper secondary school level and is organised methodologically as participatory research. Teaching units are developed together with teachers and the implementation of these units is empirically analysed using video, interview and questionnaire-based surveys.
