The database of the Hôtel de Musique project documents the theater activities at the Hôtel de Musique in Bern between 1766 and 1905. The repertoire includes theater, opera, ballet, concerts, dances and more extraordinary events such as acrobatic performances, conferences and magicians. The inventory provides a lively and colorful picture of Bern’s theater culture in the 19th century.

In addition to an introductory text on the Hôtel de Musique, the database makes it possible to search for performances in a season with exact dates and play details, performance statistics that enable comparison between different genres within a selected period, and information on works and persons with the number of performances and respective source references.
